Tomato Prices On The Rise

February 08, 2018

According to www.proactusa.com

Tomato supplies are limited, and prices are rising quickly in both the eastern and western markets of the United States.

The eastern market of the United States, the limited supplies and rising price is an attempt to slow demand with speculation of rising markets looming.  While reduced yields are expected considering the recovered growing environments due to Hurricane Irene.  Some growers are reported to have only 1 day this week scheduled for picking due to low temperatures.

In the western market of the United States, they are facing similar issues with as seen in the east. Prices have jumped up quickly as domestic yields diminish further each day with the speculation of elevated pricing into December when winter programs start.
